US Airways has launched new daily flights to Honolulu from Charlotte in North Carolina.
Services to the island of Oahu took off yesterday (December 17th), allowing holidaymakers to access the Pacific islands from the east coast of the US.
Flights will operate around the year and complement the existing US Airways flights to Hawaii from Phoenix in Arizona.
Mike Britman, the carrier’s managing director of network planning, said: "Hawaii is one of US Airways’ most popular vacation destinations, and we’re pleased to provide our customers throughout the East Coast with easy access to Honolulu."
Flights will be operated using a Boeing 767 aircraft, which can accommodate 186 economy passengers and 18 first class travellers.
Oahu is the third destination US Airways has added from its Charlotte hub so far this year, with flights to Paris having been launched in the spring.
The carrier has also begun flights to Rio de Janeiro from North Carolina, while a new route to Rome will begin in May next year.
US Airways is due to enter into a code-share agreement with TACA Airlines on January 12th, which will increase travel options for those heading to central and South America.
