Eastern Airlines terminal switch

The move will take place on June 4th and will give passengers access to a new fast-track security system.

Regional airline Eastern Airways has announced that it will permanently switch all its flights at Birmingham International Airport to Terminal 1 from Terminal 2.

The move will take place on June 4th and will give passengers access to a new fast-track security system.

Eastern Airways will operate desks 50-54 in Terminal 1 for flights to Newcastle and the Isle of Man.

Roger Hage, ground services manager for Eastern Airways, said: "Switching to Terminal 1 will benefit all our customers as we can now offer a fast track security channel, enabling 30 minute check-in to boarding times.

"The new check-in desks are located in a less congested area, which is also conveniently close to the airport’s free Air-Rail Link connecting the terminal to Birmingham International station for rail services to and from the city centre."

British Airways has also confirmed that it will continue to shift long-haul flights to Terminal 5 at Heathrow. On June 5th, flights to and from Abuja, Bangalore, Beijing, Cairo, Cape Town, Lagos, New York JFK and Phoenix will move over from Terminal 4.

Services to a further 30 destinations, including flights to Mumbai, Sao Paulo, Washington and Mexico City, will move to Terminal 5 in September. Remaining flights will be moved before the end of October.
