Cheap flights carrier bmibaby has been named the UK’s most punctual low-cost airline by performance analysis website flightonline.info.
Between January and March this year, 86.8 percent of bmibaby’s flights departed within 15 minutes of schedule, which beat the low-cost carrier average of 77.8 percent.
Bmibaby managing director Crawford Rix said that the airline works "extremely hard" to ensure that passengers benefit from flights which leave on time.
"Our top result also blows apart the myth that in order to maintain a punctual operation, customers must suffer the stress of not being allocated a seat in advance, or have to pay to stand at the front of a queue," he commented.
Mr Rix added that increasing numbers of people were choosing to book flights with the carrier because of its customer service record and low-cost tickets.
Bmibaby was established in 2002 with its maiden flight to Malaga from East Midlands Airport.
It now flies to 32 European destinations from its bases at East Midlands, Manchester, Birmingham and Cardiff.
The airline will launch new flights to Faro from Manchester as part of its Easter 2010 schedule.
