Heathrow has been named the best airport for passengers to shop at the Business Traveller Awards for the second year in a row.
The UK’s largest airport was also named the second best airport overall in Europe and fourth best in the world at the awards ceremony, which took place on September 20th at the Royal Garden Hotel in Kensington.
There more than 500 shops and outlets spread over Heathrow’s 750,000 sq ft of space, and among the best-known brands are Harrods, World Duty Free and Prada.
Brian Woodhead, Heathrow’s retail concessions director, explained that the Business Traveller Awards are "highly regarded" in the travel industry.
"So we are absolutely thrilled to have been recognised as the best airport for shopping for a second year running, and to be closing in on Amsterdam in the best European airport category," he commented.
Last Friday (September 24th), Hackett of London opened for business in Heathrow’s Terminal 4, with its first customers being treated to a glass of champagne.
