Australia becomes more accessible for Scots

Emirates' new flights to Sydney from Dubai will make Australia more accessible for people living in Scotland.

Emirates’ new flights to Sydney from Dubai will make Australia more accessible for people living in Scotland.

This is according to Glasgow Airport, which said that Sydney will soon be less than a day’s travel from Scotland’s largest city because of the new route.

The airline is launching flights to Sydney from the emirate on December 1st, with the service taking off just 75 minutes after the arrival of its daily flight from Glasgow.

Thanks to this new connection, total travel time from Glasgow to Sydney will now be 22 hours and 25 minutes.

This is a significant reduction from the previous time of more than 30 hours.

Commenting on the new route, Emirates’ UK north manager Laurie Berryman said: "Australia is a key destination for both business and leisure passengers travelling with us from Scotland, and our new Sydney service makes flying down under quicker than ever before."

Last month, Glasgow Airport revealed that thousands of holidaymakers from England were using the airport to take advantage of its cheap air fares.
