Air Berlin announce new long-haul connections from Stansted

Air Berlin, Germany's second-largest airline, has announced that it will offer UK passengers long haul flights from Stansted

Air Berlin, Germany’s second-largest airline, has announced that it will offer UK passengers long haul flights from Stansted for the first time from this month.

Beginning last Friday (November 7th), new long-haul connections will now be linked from the airline’s hub city of Dusseldorf – just over one hour away from Stansted.

The new routes fall under the airline’s winter season 2008/09, and will connect flights from Stansted to Cancun, Punta Cana, Samana in the Dominican Republic, Miami and Fort Myers, Varadero in Cuba, Mombasa, Bangkok and Male.

Commenting on the new long-haul connections, Titus Johnson, Air Berlin country manager for the UK and Ireland, said: "Air Berlin has a great reputation for providing full service at lower fares, and we’re excited to now be able to offer travellers from London, east England and beyond, even more choice to an exciting range of long haul destinations."

The airline announced that it has put its first Q400 aircraft into operation on Monday (November 10th) – the first of ten turboprop aeroplanes Air Berlin has ordered from Canadian company Bombardier.
