Cheap flights carrier Wizz Air will launch new flights to Bratislava from Rome later this summer.
Central and eastern Europe’s largest low-cost airline will begin the four-times-weekly route to the Slovakian capital on September 20th.
Wizz Air executive vice president John Stephenson said that Slovakia "has always been on our horizon".
"We believe that now is the time to step up and benefit from the arising opportunities on the market," he commented.
"This is the first step, many more to follow."
Wizz Air has extended its lowest fares guarantee to the Slovak market, which is likely to entice those thinking of travelling to the eastern European nation.
The route will be operated on brand new Airbus A320 aircraft.
More than 6.5 million passengers have travelled with the Hungarian carrier over the past year from one of its 11 bases in Poland, Hungary, Bulgaria, Romania, Ukraine and the Czech Republic.
Wizz Air recently agreed to purchase an additional 50 A320 aircraft as it looks to expand its route network.
