Brits travelling on cheap flights to Turkey this winter will not be disappointed by the number of things to do in the country.
This is according to the Turkish Culture and Tourism Office UK, which said that the country has a winter sports season lasting between November and April, with mountain altitudes on a par with the Alps and the Rockies.
A spokesperson from the organisation said that part of Turkey’s draw with winter sports enthusiast is its stunning scenery.
"Most of Turkey’s ski resorts are nestled within forested mountains, providing a stunning setting and breathtaking views for your winter holiday – as well as all the delights of delicious Turkish food, quieter resorts and great value too being outside the eurozone," she commented.
Ertugrul Gunay, Turkey’s minister for culture and tourism, recently said that Turkey’s tourism industry has enjoyed "spectacular success" this year and that visitor numbers are expected to continue rising.
At the recent Condé Nast Traveller Annual Readers’ Travel Awards, Turkey was named readers’ favourite holiday destination, with 87 percent of respondents saying it was value for money.
