The winter season has got underway at Southampton International Airport, with flights to 49 destinations available from the south coast to the UK, the Channel Islands and Europe.
Ski holidays play a big part in the airport’s winter schedule, with resorts including Val D’Isere, Chamonix, Verbier, Meribel, Val Thorens and Zermatt all becoming accessible from the south coast airport.
Regional airline Flybe is beginning flights to Geneva, Salzburg and Chambery, while the carrier is also launching scheduled flights to Berne every Saturday.
Elsewhere, Canterbury Travel is introducing flights to Lapland, with one-day tours available on December 17th.
Southampton Airport’s managing director Kevin Brown said the launch of new flights is "fantastic news" for the region’s travellers.
"There are now 49 destinations on offer from Southampton travelling throughout the UK, Channel Islands and Europe," he commented.
"So whether you’re looking for business flights, a city break or to sample the ski slopes, there really is something for everyone."
On Monday (November 2nd), Eastern Airways began flights to Durham Tees Valley Airport from Southampton.
