Best time to visit Vietnam: at a glance
Stretching all the way from the Chinese border in the north to the Gulf of Thailand in the south, Vietnam is a seriously lengthy country – over 1000km (600 miles) long to be more precise. It also has lots of different environments, from towering mountains to tropical beaches, so the best time to visit Vietnam really depends on which part you want to visit.
As a rule of thumb, spring (February to April) and autumn (August to October) are the best times to visit Vietnam. During these months there’s less rain across the country and temperatures are more pleasant – during summer it can be extremely hot and humid wherever you go.Find hotel deals in Vietnam Find cheap flights to Vietnam

In Northern Vietnam you can explore the frenzied old quarter of Hanoi, where motorbikes whizz by as people slurp steaming bowls of bun cha on the street. Just off the coast is Ha Long Bay with its iconic limestone formations.
It’s best to visit Northern Vietnam in spring (April–June) and autumn (October–November). This is when the weather is warm and fairly dry. Bear in mind that the north is humid all year round and you’ll probably encounter some showers whenever you visit.
Northern Vietnam can get chilly during the winter (December to March), when temperatures drop as low as 5ºC. From July to September the temperature is a searingly hot 28-35ºC, with buckets of rain bringing high humidity.Book flights to Hanoi Find Hanoi hotel deals

The dry season in central Vietnam lasts from February to July, and the weather is at its most pleasant until April. Humidity at this time of year is fairly low, and temperatures are comfortable – nothing near the searing 38°C you can expect from June to August.

Ho Chi Minh City, Saigon or just simple HCMC: whatever you call it, you’re in for a treat. Dine on street food at Ben Thanh street food market, sip cocktails at sunset from a rooftop bar and spend some time contemplating the country’s past at the War Remnants Museum.
Don’t expect dry, sunny weather in Ho Chi Minh City. Rains are common throught the year as the northeast monsoon rolls in from November to April, and the southwest monsoon from May to October. Still, it doesn’t rain all the time, and you’ll likely get a few lovely days during your trip.
The driest months are December to March, when the temperature ranges from 21°C to 34°C.
