Canadian cheap flights carrier WestJet has announced that it will launch a new non-stop seasonal service from Winnipeg to the Mexican destinations of Mazatlan and Puerto Vallarta.
A weekly service to the Pacific coastal city of Mazatlan will begin on January 6th, while flights to the resort city of Puerto Vallarta will commence two days later. The new routes will be seasonal, with services scheduled to end in late March or early April.
Commenting on the new routes, Bob Cummings, WestJet vice president of guest experience and marketing, said he was "delighted" to offer Winnipeg residents the chance to escape to Mexico during the winter.
"We’re also pleased to be able to continue to add capacity and deliver on our strategic plan to expand our airline and bring our great guest experience to more Canadians than ever before," he said.
Introductory one-way fares start at £84 for both routes, with passengers having until December 10th to book their discounted ticket.
WestJet is the second largest carrier in Canada behind Air Canada. It has ambitions to become one of the world’s top-five most profitable airlines by 2016.
