Weird World: REVIEW

Featuring odd images of people, animals, signs and food from around the world, there are some truly intriguing pictures in here

Published by Bradt

This full colour coffee table book from long time travel publishers Bradt is certain to grab the attention of all who open it.

Featuring odd images of people, animals, signs and food from around the world, there are some truly intriguing pictures in here. The section on the Thai Vegetarian festival is exceptionally gripping as it features people who have pierced their cheeks with various unlikely objects; chairs, swords and guns.

Unlike most of Bradt’s books, this is not a travel guide. It’s more of a global freak show, and a great book to leaf through in wonder. Whilst many of the pictures alone have a high shock factor, the introductions and explanations that accompany each section should also sate the appetite of the inquisitive global voyeur.

As the title suggests, Weird World showcases some of the most unusual sights from around the globe and will appeal not just to travellers, but anyone with any interest in the outside world.

After all, who wouldn’t find a platter of deep fried tarantulas or scorpion-on-a-stick at least a little intriguing?
