The British Travel Awards is the number-one travel industry awards programme recognised and coveted by the travel industry – as voted for by travelling consumers. The awards are acknowledged as the largest arbiter of public opinion on travel industry performance in the United Kingdom.
Deloitte LLP audits the votes which are collected online until 30 September 2009 to ensure the awards maintain their reputation for integrity, independence and transparency.
The nomination comes shortly after several other accolades for Skyscanner including being shortlisted for the TravelMole Web Awards, the 2009 MediaGuardian awards as well as the ‘Angel or VC-backed Business of the Year’ and the ‘Innovative Business of the Year Award’ categories of the Fast Growth Business Awards, run by Growing Business Magazine. Skyscanner was also listed in the The GP Bullhound Media Momentum Top 50.
Barry Smith, Skyscanner director and co-founder commented:
“We’ve had an enormous amount of success over the last 12 months, with Skyscanner bucking the downturn and traffic and revenue growing massively, so it’s great to be recognised by the British Travel Awards as one of the UK’s top travel companies”.
