With terminals at major UK hubs often full to the brim with customers checking in, Virgin Atlantic is offering passengers a new incentive to speed up the process and check in online.
Transatlantic rival British Airways is also looking to put departure hall chaos behind it and hopes to see 80 per cent of passengers either check-in online or through self-service kiosks when it shifts the majority of its flights to Heathrow’s new Terminal 5 next month.
Paul Dickinson, sales & marketing director for Virgin Atlantic, said: "We hope that this promotion will encourage passengers to check-in online before their trip as it means that on arrival at the airport, they simply hand over their luggage at the ‘Bag Drop’ desk and go straight through security. We did a similar promotion last summer which proved to be very popular with our passengers, so we’re hoping that by offering them a voucher again to spend onboard their flights, they will use this opportunity to see for themselves just how easy using online check-in is."
Passengers seeking to obtain the Virgin retail vouchers will be required to check-in online between March 1st and April 30th and will be able to print off vouchers from their check-in confirmation email before taking them on board.
