Stansted Airport is gearing up for the busy Bank holiday weekend with the launch of two new routes.
Cheap flights to Jersey will be offered by airline Aurigny from Friday (May 1st) while Bodrum, Turkey will be linked with the UK airport by Pegasus Airlines from Monday (May 4th).
The new services will give the 250,000 passengers expected at Stansted on Bank holiday Monday improved access to the Jersey Boat Show – which starts on May 2nd – and Turkey’s impressive Aegean coast.
According to Nick Barton, commercial and development director at Stansted Airport, both Aurigny and Pegasus have been surprised by the level of interest shown in the routes since details of the cheap flights were announced back in March.
He said this was particularly pleasing in the context of the global economic downturn.
Meanwhile, research conducted by Skyscanner suggests Stansted can expect an influx of Britons over the next few days thanks to London’s new status as the country’s most popular May Day holiday weekend flight destination.
