Two airlines confirm new flights from Copenhagen

Cimber Sterling and Norwegian have announced new routes from Copenhagen Airport.

Cimber Sterling and Norwegian have announced new routes from Copenhagen Airport, with the flights due to be launched this winter.

Denmark-based Cimber Sterling will launch new flights to Geneva, Salzburg and Verona as part of its winter programme – all of which are located close to the Alps’ ski resorts.

The flights will take the number of Alp destinations served by Copenhagen Airport to eight.

In addition, Norwegian will launch new flights to Gran Canaria from the airport, increasing the total number of routes operated by the cheap flights carrier from the Danish capital to 19.

A Copenhagen Airport statement said that Norwegian and Cimber Sterling are engaged "in a close race" to become the airport’s second-largest airline.

"The lead is changing all the time and after the two airlines announced new routes today, we will need a photo finish to determine which is currently flying the larger number of passengers out of Copenhagen."

Copenhagen is Scandinavia’s largest airport and accommodates almost 60,000 passengers per day.
