Some travellers have complained of dubious practices by some disreputable car hire companies.
Double-charging, charging for non-existent damage or parking tickets that were never issued appearing on credit card statements months after you’ve rented, are some of the scams being reported.
Marcus Gibson, editor of the Gibson Index, recommends taking a picture of your car at the start and end of the hire period and telling the rental company you’ve done so.
This helps to dissuade unscrupulous car hire firms from taking liberties and means you’ve got evidence of the car’s condition when you returned it.
