The best way to ensure you’re not left in a pickle if your passport goes walkabout, is to scan it, and then email it to yourself.
That way, in the event your passport is lost or stolen, you’ll be able to head to the nearest internet cafe and print out a copy. This won’t get you on the plane, but it will make the process of getting a replacement much quicker and easier than without it.
If possible, ensure all your important travel information is accessible via your email account. These days, most flight bookings, hotel reservations, insurance policies, car hire details etc, are available in electronic format, so in addition to your hard copy printouts, keep all those emails containing important information handy in your inbox.
