Large numbers of people will be travelling on flights to Verona, Venice and Rome from Stansted over the Valentine’s weekend, airport officials have said.
Thousands of passengers are expected to embark on a romantic break from the Essex airport on Saturday and Sunday (February 13th and 14th), with other hotspots including the Swiss Alps and the Canary Islands.
The more adventurous will be taking advantage of AirAsia X’s flights to Kuala Lumpur, while Pegasus Airlines will be operating flights to Turkey for those in search of warmer climes.
Mark Souter, Stansted’s head of airline relations, said it is possible to surprise your other half with a treat later in the year thanks to the launch of ten new routes from the airport this summer.
"For the undecided romantics out there, with over 140 destinations across 32 countries to choose from, it’s just a matter of deciding where to take your valentine from Stansted this weekend," he commented.
Cheap flights carrier Ryanair will introduce flights to Fuerteventura from Stansted on May 3rd, while the airline will also commence services to Fez from the airport.
