Statistics from the Spanish aviation industry organisation the AENA show that Thomsonfly flew the highest number of passengers from the UK to the Canary Islands last winter.
For the period between November 2007 and March 2008, Thomsonfly airline carried 209,645 passengers on flights from the UK to Tenerife.
Tenerife is also popular with German holidaymakers as shown by the popularity of Condor Flugdienst and Hapag Lloyd Express flights to the island.
The two German airlines came a respective second and third to Thomsonfly in the run down of Tenerife’s most popular carriers, with UK cheap flights providers Thomas Cook Airlines and Monarch Airlines also appearing in the top ten.
Guy Stephenson, commercial director of Thomsonfly, commented: "We know that Tenerife is a top seller for British holidaymakers, but to learn we are the top airline to the island from any country, reinforces our customer’s love for the destination."
The airline has recently announced details of its winter schedule, which includes flights to Malaga, Alicante, Salzburg and Grenoble from Coventry.
Flights to Tenerife will operate from Doncaster, Bournemouth, Manchester, Gatwick, Cardiff, East Midlands, Newcastle and Luton.
