Five daily flights will operate to Chicago Midway and Baltimore Washington International from August 16th.
Bob Jordan, Southwest’s executive vice president of strategy and planning, said that the new routes would allow the airline "to fully serve the Boston area".
"People in the central Boston area have been asking for Southwest Airlines service for many years, and we can’t wait to introduce them to our legendary customer service as well as our low fares, on-time flights, and no hidden fees," he commented.
The new flights from Boston Logan will allow the Dallas-based airline’s passengers to benefit from connection to 48 onward destinations including Las Vegas, Phoenix, Denver and Los Angeles.
Southwest Airlines will start operating eight daily flights to New York LaGuardia from Chicago Midway in June.
The carrier has been in operation for almost 38 years.
