Southampton ‘best airport for customer service’

Southampton Airport has been granted a prestigious accolade for customer service.

Southampton Airport has been granted a prestigious accolade for customer service, winning recognition for its friendly and efficient handling of air travellers.

Winner of the Airports Council International (ACI) Airport People Award 2007, the regional hub passed the Airport Service Quality Survey with flying colours, trumping 90 rivals on the quality of its check-in, departure gate and security operations.

Southampton was also named fifth-best European airport by the ACI, with passenger feedback on staff courtesy and overall services elevating the hub to prime status.

Chris Butler, managing director of Southampton Airport, said: "This award is a true reflection of the dedication and hard work of everyone here at Southampton Airport. I would like to thank and congratulate each and every staff member for their personal contribution."

The airport was recently boosted by the announcement of increased daily flights on Eastern Airways’ Southampton-Aberdeen route, which already benefits from fast track security channels that reduce queuing.

Incheon airport in Seoul, South Korea, was the best airport worldwide, while the top in Europe was Porto in Portugal. Aberdeen in the UK was named most improved hub.
