Online social networks are providing a forum for youngsters to discuss cheap flights, it has been revealed.
According to a spokesperson for STA Travel, sites such as Facebook, MySpace and Bebo give young people the chance to talk about the latest travel trends and discover more unusual places to travel to.
"Online social networks encourage an exchange of ideas about places to go to and what to do there," the spokesperson commented.
The company representative went on to say that younger generations are more likely than ever to choose an adventure holiday, with the number of trips taken for this purpose up ten percent on last year’s level.
Meanwhile, research conducted by Co-operative Travel recently showed younger age groups are looking to book cheap flights to Spain in time for their summer holidays.
Trevor Davis, director of retail distribution at the Co-operative Travel, believes this demonstrates the effectiveness of a campaign launched by the Spanish Tourist Office to show young people there is more to Spain than sun and sangria.
