Should children sit next to strangers on flights?

Last week trade unions were protesting that the new Air France ruling, which states that unaccompanied children should not be seated next to adults, could put their safety at risk in the event of an accident.

The same seating policy caused British Airways dearly this summer when they were taken to court by a British businessman who accused them of treating male passengers as “potential child molesters” when he was asked to move seats away from a 12 year old boy.
