Short breaks in Hungary are 'unbeatable'

Cheap flights to Hungary are expected to be in demand this year because the country offers the "best" value for money, the Hungarian National Tourist Office has said.

Among Hungary’s travel highlights is Budapest, the country’s capital, which is famous for the Danube River and its historic bridges, ornate thermal baths and the Great Synagogue.

Karin Jones, a consultant at the country’s tourist office, said that one of the city’s major draws is its excellent standard of living for both locals and visitors.

"Budapest’s luxuries, including four and five-star hotels, fine dining including their first Michelin Star restaurant, are easily accessible to the average traveller with room rates starting from well under £100 per night," she explained.

Ms Jones also said Hungary as a whole is "unbeatable" as a place in which to have a short break. Not only does it offer excellent value of money, she said, but also a number of flight connections from UK airports.

Cheap flights carrier Wizz Air said earlier this month that it expects to see 20 percent growth at Budapest during 2010.
