James Bond fans are celebrating this week after it was announced that the latest instalment of 007’s adventures, entitled ‘Skyfall’, is slated to hit screens in October 2012 and will be set in London, Scotland, China and Turkey.
Skyscanner loves a bit of Bond action and is also rather partial to a martini – shaken, not stirred, of course – and has gone in search of the best places for Bond to unwind with a martini during Skyfall.
Producers have revealed that many scenes in the movie are to be filmed in the corridors of power in Whitehall. Away from briefings with Q on the latest in international espionage, Bond may wish to unwind at the exclusive Michelin-starred bar & restaurant Sketch in nearby Soho where diamonds really are forever – even the bathrooms are crystal-encrusted. The exotic crossroads of Europe and Asia, Istanbul is the quintessential Bond location – nowhere more so than the magnificent Kizkulesi ‘Maiden’ Tower with its stunning rooftop terrace bar with offering 360 views of the Turkish city. Bond may recognise these historic environs – the tower features in 1999’s The World Iis Nnot Enough. Find cheap flights to Istanbul
Duntrune Castle in Argyll is rumoured to be the Scottish location featured in Skyfall, and while this rugged and rural area may not have many cocktail bars of its own likely to be favoured by Bond, the Corinthian in nearby Glasgow features a suitably plush interior whose glamorous clientele may even include the next Bond girl. Shanghai’s party scene is rapidly becoming one of the best in Asia, and the Glamour Bar is just the place for 007 to unwind. Bond can relax here with the beautiful people in one of the many dark corners and enjoy aone of the bars’ special gin, vodka, sweet vermouth and slice of lemon martini – just the way he ordered it in Casino Royale.
