Cheap flights carrier Ryanair has announced that it will launch a new route between Luton and Beziers in the south of France.
The airline will begin its twice-weekly (Monday and Friday) service to Cap d’Agde Airport from today, with the new service being aimed at those seeking a weekend break in France’s Languedoc region.
The commencement of the new route comes after Ryanair announced it would shut its base in the Spanish city of Valencia, a decision that will affect ten routes used by 750,000 passengers a year.
According to an article in the Daily Telegraph, Ryanair said the move, which comes into force on Nov 4th, was because the local authority had "failed to come up with satisfactory plans to promote the airport."
Ryanair is planning to shift operations to another of its existing bases, the newspaper said.
The airline said last week that it was planning to open two new bases on the Italian island of Sardinia in March next year.
