Leisure technology supplier Comtec has declared its intention to overhaul its travel.co.uk comparison website.
The revamp will be accompanied by a transfer of ownership which will see the website handed over to independent operator Travel.co.uk Limited, though it will continue to rely on Comtec’s technological solutions. As part of an attempt to gauge market reaction, especially among trade clients, a beta version of the consumer-facing site offering price comparison services for holidays, flights and hotels went live last year.
Gaining overwhelmingly supportive feedback, Comtec chief executive Simon Powell confirmed that plans are now afoot to further develop the domain name into a strong and widely recognised brand. "Feedback from the beta phase has been very positive with both tour operators and travel agencies keen to learn about our plans for the site and find out how they can utilise one of the most memorable website addresses in the industry as an additional channel to market," he said.
The revamped version of travel.co.uk is currently slated to be unveiled in May 2008.
