The poor weather this summer has resulted in record numbers of passengers booking flights from Humberside International Airport.
Between May and August, the airport reported a 30 percent increase in bookings compared to the same period in 2008, meaning that Humberside has experienced its busiest ever summer.
Humberside Airport Travel’s business manager Amanda George said that the secret of the airport’s success is "two-fold".
"Our staff have between them 50 years’ experience working in the travel industry and have visited more than 50 destinations, including every direct destination available from Humberside Airport," she commented.
"This means that we can go that extra mile for our customers by providing them with a local insight into the places that they might want to visit."
The results are particularly good news for the region’s travel sector, which had been suffering at the hands of the struggling economy.
Figures released earlier this year revealed that approximately 2,500 people flew from the airport over the four-day Easter break.
