Real Value Stag Dos: Cheap Stag trips

The Foreign Office has recently warned British travellers to tone down their behaviour whilst on stag and hen weekends.

With over one million Britons planning to travel aboard this year for stag and hen parties, that’s potentially a lot fancy dressing up and rowdy behaviour!

Skyscanner introduces some of the best value stag destinations in Europe, but be sure to heed the FCO advice: “Have fun, but remember – a combination of sun & alcohol doesn’t always mix.”

Not everyone appreciates drunken, dressed up Brits behaving badly, so enjoy yourself, but watch your behaviour in order to avoid a hostile reception from the locals.

1. Riga, Latvia – total cost = £116

Topping the list of bang for your stag buck destinations is the Latvian capital, which attracts tourists with its unique mix of medieval and modern architecture. Beer is cheap across the city, so those on a stag do can always treat themselves to one or two at the swanky Skyline Bar perched 26 floors high above the city.

2. Prague, Czech Republic – total cost = £150

Another European destination representing great value, Prague offers some of the best beer on the planet at extremely tempting prices – one of the main reasons the Czech Capital came out tops for best value stag do. Stag parties may also wish to sample the novelty of the eight-man spider bike available for hire in the city’s spectacular Wenceslas Square.

3. Belfast, UK – total cost = £153

The cheapest of the UK destinations reviewed, Northern Ireland’s capital has emerged as a popular party weekend getaway, perhaps partly due to its good value in comparison to pricier southern cousin Dublin. Generous helpings of Irish craic will no doubt also help wash the beer down.

4. Newcastle, UK – total cost = £191

5. Edinburgh, UK – total cost = £204

The historic city of Edinburgh lures visitors thanks to its spectacular scenery, and also boasts what is thought to be the highest pub-per-head ratio in the UK – a statistic which will soon help revellers forget that the price of beer here is also some of the most expensive in the UK.

10 pints of beer: £31
Two nights accommodation: £100
Return flights from London to Edinburgh: £73
TOTAL COST OF STAG PARTY ESSENTIALS: £204

amsterdam.JPG6. Amsterdam, Netherlands – total cost = £261

The most expensive destination reviewed, the Dutch capital’s café culture and, of course, red light district means it is one of the most popular destinations for stag parties. However, this comes at a price, as Amsterdam was by far the priciest option in the Skyscanner study.

10 pints of beer: £32
