The Australian national carrier will operate three A380 flights on the ‘Kangaroo Route’ each week, with further aircraft set to be added to the airline’s fleet in May.
Commenting before the flight, Qantas’ executive general manager John Borghetti said the A380 had enjoyed "extremely positive feedback" from the airline’s customers since the first flight was introduced between Melbourne and Los Angeles in October.
"It has delivered on our vision, realised by Qantas’ creative director Marc Newson, of offering customers a new, stylish long haul travel experience, with more space and more comfort," he said.
"It has also met our expectations in terms of aircraft performance."
Mr Borghetti added that the Qantas A380 had been added to the Singapore and UK markets after the carrier received its third delivery of the aircraft towards the end of last month.
Qantas announced last week that it had become the first carrier to use the A380 on a commercial flight between Sydney and San Francisco.
