Mutiny Bay, Alton Towers, UK

This fantastical pirate- themed experience is packed with rides for landlubbers; step aboard the Battle Galleons and sail amidst shark -infested waters; swirl and twirl on the gunpowder barrel ride named Marauder’s Mayhem, and watch the Pirate of Shark Bait Reef Family show.

Pirates of the Caribbean, Disneyworld, Florida, USA

Visit this classic attraction in the Magic Kingdom theme park that will appeal to pirate appreciators of all ages. Wander through the Pirates of the Caribbean Town but be on the lookout for Captain Jack Sparrow and the other roguish swashbucklers who all be a hunting for the town’s treasure!

Dominica

Not to be confused with the Dominican Republic, this unspoiled island in the eastern Caribbean was one of the major filming locations for Pirates of the Caribbean 2 and 3, and following the release of the movies, Dominica has had a big boost from tourists. Fans of Jack Sparrow and his rag-tag crew can visit the film locations around the island, which was chosen for its idyllic natural beauty of steaming valleys, rushing rivers and lush forest.

Norman Island, British Virgin Islands

Norman Island is said to have been the inspiration for Robert Louis Stevenson’s classic swashbuckling pirate tale – Treasure Island. The island remains a tropical tax-haven paradise and tourism is big with excellent yachting, diving and general beach- lounging being the big activities here.

The ‘pirates of the north’ terrorised Britain for hundreds of years, raiding and trading their way around the coasts of Europe. Oslo’s Viking Ship Museum displays several large Viking ships as well as genuine everyday artefacts and tells the story of life and history of these most feared pirates.
