OAG goes OTA with ‘total flight search’ facility

A leading flight information provider is entering the realms of online travel agent with a new online reservation system.

A leading flight information provider is entering the realms of online travel agent (OTA) with a new online reservation system, according to Business Travel News Online (BTNOnline). The site claimed that Official Airline Guide (OAG) will be teaming up with FCm Travel Solutions to offer a rebranded version of FCm’s non-global distribution system (GDS) booking tool.

Flight bookings will be facilitated as OAG Travel Planner Pro offers a revamped version of FCm’s existing corporate booking tool, which currently fuses Concur Cliqbook and AgentWare technology, while FCm will continue to perform which fulfilment and travel management services including account management.

OAG Travel Solutions managing director David Rosen said: "We have existing clients for our travel planning tool who have been asking us to provide reservations. Many are medium-sized businesses and some of them are large ones, but we are not going after the BPs and Hewlett-Packards of this world."

But what could distinguish the service will be a facility to list every available flight for a given route, even if the tool cannot access booking for a certain airline or time.

Rosen added: "Even if the flight was not available through our booking solution you would know it was out there and could go and book it elsewhere."
