Bournemouth Airport has opened its new official viewing area after responding to requests from airport visitors.
The viewing area, which will also be used by local aircraft enthusiasts, offers views over the eastern end of the airport’s runway.
As well as providing a safe place in which to view take-offs and landings, the viewing area offers visitors a small picnic area, which allows families to make the most of their trip to the airport.
Bournemouth Airport managing director Rob Goldsmith said a fall in demand for car-parking spaces was the "ideal opportunity" to establish the viewing area.
"We have a wide range of aircraft using the airport – from small two-seaters through to commercial jets – so there is always something going on and I’m confident that it will prove popular," he commented.
Cheap flights carrier Ryanair announced last month that it will be launching new flights to the Canary Islands from the south coast airport.
As part of its forthcoming winter schedule, the airline will operate flights to Tenerife every Monday, while a new route to Lanzarote will take-off on Wednesdays.
The airline will operate weekly flights to Gran Canaria on Sundays.
