Virgin Atlantic has unveiled the first phase of plans for its new look Clubhouse at Heathrow Airport.
The airline’s new £11 million business-class lounge has been designed in collaboration with design agency Softroom and resembles a single room rather than a series of divided spaces.
Virgin Atlantic chairman, Sir Richard Branson, explained: "We always try to provide our passengers with something unique and our Clubhouses have always led the industry and this is just the start of it.
"There will be plenty more to come when the Clubhouse doubles in size again later this year."
Virgin’s new 2,500 square metre Clubhouse will be located alongside its other Clubhouse at Heathrow.
The airline recently announced that business passenger numbers on its flights had increased by 22 per cent in the 12 months to February.
Virgin suggested that the problematic opening of Heathrow’s new Terminal 5 had resulted in the massive rise in business class flight sales.
