Qatar Airways has launched new non-stop flights to Goa from Doha ahead of this year’s winter holiday season.
The idyllic beach destination is particularly popular among holidaymakers from Europe, from where the airline has convenient connecting flights.
Qatar’s inaugural flight landed at Dabolim International Airport on Monday morning (October 26th), with the carrier using an Airbus A320 aircraft on the route.
Akbar Al Baker, the carrier’s chief executive officer, said that the route had been "long awaited" and that he expected Goa to see a "huge influx of holidaymakers" this winter.
"European holidaymakers have traditionally flown with seasonal charter operators to Goa, but with our new scheduled service we are offering a unique year-round alternative," he commented.
Mr Al Baker went on to say that Goa is "new, different and…desirable".
Earlier this month, the carrier introduced flights to Amritsar from Doha. It is the only full-service scheduled global airline to offer flights to the Punjab city.
Qatar Airways now offers 64 weekly flights to India spread across ten different cities.
