Flights to Iceland, Jamaica and Hungary could prove more popular this bank holiday after it was revealed that the countries offer the best value for money for British travellers.
This is according to the International Currency Exchange (ICE), which said that destinations in these countries would be best for those looking for a cheap last minute getaway.
China, the United Arab Emirates and the US were also named as value-for-money countries, while Hong Kong, the eurozone, Poland and Croatia made up the ICE’s top-ten.
ICE head of marketing Andrew Hamilton said that people travelling to Iceland would get 30 percent more kronas for their money than they would have done in January.
"It’s likely that many families who stayed in the UK this summer will be thinking about a last minute deal to escape the damp and dreary weather that’s hit much of the country," he commented.
Holidaymakers should also consider booking flights to Bulgaria, Turkey or the Czech Republic in order to get more for their pound.
In spring, the ICE said that February’s cold spell resulted in more Brits booking flights that offered both warmth and value for money.
