More than 300,000 people book flights between Doncaster Sheffield and Poland

Over 300,000 passengers have taken advantage of flights to Poland from Doncaster Sheffield Airport

Over 300,000 passengers have taken advantage of flights to Poland from Doncaster Sheffield Airport, new figures have revealed.

Hungarian cheap flights carrier Wizz Air has introduced flights from the airport to Gdansk, Katowice, Poznan and Warsaw over the last two-and-a-half years.

The flight to Katowice has so far been the most popular, having transported over 122,000 passengers. The Gdansk flight has seen an uptake of around 85,000 passengers.

Jodi Stow, Robin Hood Airport Doncaster Sheffield’s marketing and communications manager, said she was "delighted" that the airport had achieved the milestone alongside Wizz Air.

"Poland is a beautiful country and is becoming very popular as an affordable holiday destination, especially as it’s not on the euro" she said.

"Those visiting the country will get approximately 4.42 Polish zloty per pound, four percent more than in June 2008."

Wizz Air operates up to three flights a day from the airport to Poland, with travel time lasting for around two-and-a-half hours.

Doncaster Sheffield Airport said before Christmas that it expected 20,000 passengers to pass through its doors during the festive holiday period.
