Monarch launches new flights to Canary Islands

Monarch has launched new flights to Fuerteventura and Gran Canaria from a number of UK airports.

Cheap flights carrier Monarch has launched new flights to Fuerteventura and Gran Canaria from a number of UK airports.

Beginning yesterday (October 19th), two flights a week will operate to Gran Canaria from Birmingham, London Gatwick and Manchester.

Elsewhere, tomorrow will see the introduction of flights to Fuerteventura from Birmingham, London Gatwick, London Luton and Manchester.

Liz Savage, Monarch’s flights and holidays managing director, said the airline is "delighted" to be expanding its route network to the Canary Islands.

"These will operate in addition to our existing routes to Tenerife and Lanzarote, and we have been overwhelmed with how well these new services have been received with 35,000 advanced bookings already taken," she commented.

The airline now serves a total of 15 destinations from the UK, many of which could appeal to holidaymakers looking for some winter sun.

A poll by Monarch last month revealed that 70 percent of British holidaymakers were "desperately seeking" a sunshine getaway.
