Brits booking cheap flights to Marrakech can look forward to arriving in a city cheaper than any other short or medium-haul destination.
This is according to Thomas Cook’s Cost of Living 2010 survey, which found that the north African country costs the average traveller just £29.42 a day.
The results of the poll were backed up by Travelzest, whose spokesperson said that Marrakech offers a "very affordable" cost of living.
"Taxis cost just a few pounds to cross the city, attractions like the Saadian Tombs and Majorelle Gardens are low-cost, and the souks, full of all sorts of products, are all about bargaining and haggling," the spokesperson said.
The £29.42 recorded by Travelzest is a fall of £6.75 compared to the daily cost of Morocco last year, and is approximately £20 less than the average tourist to the UK will spend.
According to ABTA – The Travel Association, Morocco will be among the world’s leading tourist destinations this summer thanks to large-scale investment in new hotels and infrastructure.
