LTE Norwich-Alicante route announced

Iberian carrier LTE International has good news for travellers from Norwich Airport seeking the Spanish sun.

Iberian carrier LTE International has good news for travellers from Norwich Airport seeking the Spanish sun.

The airline will be offering weekly services to Alicante, Barcelona and Palma de Mallorca from the East Anglian hub, marking the airline’s first scheduled services from a UK regional airport.

Richard Jenner, managing director of Norwich Airport, said: "They are an established charter airline, having worked with UK tour operators such as Thomas Cook and Thomsonfly – indeed, many passengers from Norwich have already flown with LTE to Lanzarote on First Choice holidays."

Southern Spanish destinations are already hugely popular with UK air travellers – and a new international airport on the doorstep of Alicante could soon provide further travel options for Brits.

The Corvera Airport in Murcia has been tipped to process some three million passengers during its first year, with construction work now under way and first phase completion due for 2009.

Spanish travellers looking further afield than the UK could themselves be given a boost if British Airways builds on its planned New York routes to Paris and Brussels and extends its new Open Skies services to Madrid, as has been reported by El Economista.
