Holidaymakers are snapping up flights to mid and long-haul destinations because they offer a better cost of living than the UK, Kuoni Travel has said.
The holiday company explained that, because the pound is "more or less equal" to the Euro, increasing numbers of people are booking flights to destinations in Africa and the Middle East.
"For the same price as a European break, clients can be wandering around the colourful souks in Marrakech or stay in the duty-free shopping paradise of Dubai," a Kuoni Travel statement said.
Tamara Diethelm, Kuoni’s head of late trading, explained that more people were exploring the possibility of an all-inclusive holiday because of the desire "to be able to budget completely for their holiday particularly in the current economic climate".
It was also suggested that Thailand, South Africa and Malaysia were becoming increasingly attractive tourist destinations thanks to special offers and the affordable cost of food and drink.
A separate survey from Kuoni Travel earlier this year revealed that travellers are increasingly looking for "personal fulfilment" from their holiday.
