LBIA hopes to launch new flights to European destinations

Leeds Bradford International Airport has said it hopes to secure new flights to Germany, Switzerland and Scandinavia

Leeds Bradford International Airport (LBIA) has said it hopes to secure new flights to Germany, Switzerland and Scandinavia.

Tony Hallwood, the airport’s commercial director, will be attending this week’s Routes Europe 2009 conference in Prague in order for LBIA to gain new European routes.

More than 650 delegates will attend the event, including as many as 75 airlines and up to 200 airports.

Mr Hallwood said that he was confident the LBIA would be in a position to announce the launch of new routes later this year.

"With strong support from the business community across the Yorkshire region, we are already stimulating significant interest in what Leeds, Bradford and the wider Yorkshire region can offer to a range of European airlines," he commented.

Mr Hallwood will meet with a number of cheap flights carriers and scheduled service airlines in the hope that they will be encouraged to launch new business and leisure flights from LBIA.

Pakistan International Airlines recently increased its number of flights to Islamabad from the airport from two to three times a week.
