Jet2.com’s newly-modified aircraft set off on its first commercial transatlantic flight from Leeds Bradford Airport earlier today (Friday, November 7th).
An American-themed check-in area complete with stars and stripes, bunting, balloons and a seven-foot Statue of Liberty got passengers in the mood before their cheap flight to New York, and hats and tiaras were also on hand for the most enthusiastic of travellers.
The decision to start a transatlantic service was announced earlier in the year, although it was not until today that customers got the chance to make the journey from Leeds Bradford to the Big Apple on a Jet2.com aircraft.
However, those who want to take advantage of the cheap flights to New York in the future will have to act quickly as flights and package deals are only available in November and December.
Jet2.com also recently announced that it is to base another Boeing 757 in Manchester Airport in response to growing demand from customers.
The 229-seat aircraft will serve the newly-created Dalaman and Sharm el Sheikh routes.
