Cheap flights carrier Jet2.com welcomed its 20 millionth passenger yesterday (April 13th) during a flight from Manchester.
Keith Moffat and his wife Julia were presented with a glass of champagne and a personal welcome from Ian Doubtfire, Jet2.com’s managing director, to mark the milestone.
In a separate landmark, Jet2.com is also celebrating five years of operations and growth at Manchester Airport, from where it will soon launch cheap flights to Salzburg.
A total of ten new routes are being introduced from the airport this year, while the airline will place an additional two aircraft in Manchester.
This will allow Jet2.com to operate 200 weekly flights from its north-west base and accommodate approximately one million passengers a year.
Mr Doubtfire said that welcoming the 20 millionth passenger is a "huge cause for celebration" and a "significant step in the history of the airline", which was launched in 2002.
"It has been a tough couple of years for the travel industry but I am proud to say that we have continued to go from strength to strength and reaching our 20 million passenger landmark really demonstrates this," he commented.
On June 26th, Jet2.com will commence cheap flights to Majorca from Edinburgh, its 12th destination from the Scottish Airport.
