Low-cost airline Jet2.com has launched cheap flights to Paphos from East Midlands, its first ever service from the airport.
The carrier commenced operations at East Midlands yesterday (May 19th), where it is establishing five further routes to Alicante, Palma, Faro, Bodrum and Rhodes using two Boeing 757 aircraft.
These will take effect in summer 2011, when Jet2.com’s weekly departures from the airport will increase from nine to 22.
Ian Doubtfire, Jet2.com’s managing director, said the carrier is "quite literally taking off in the Midlands".
"I would personally like to thank everyone from the region for their continued support and we look forward to welcoming more and more customers on-board our fleet and working with our partners at East Midlands Airport to establish Jet2.com as the Midlands’ favourite airline," he commented.
The maiden flight to Cyprus took off at 09:30 yesterday morning, offering Midlands-based holidaymakers access to one of the Mediterranean’s best-loved destinations.
Last month, Jet2.com welcomed its 20 millionth passenger onboard a flight from Manchester Airport.
