More budget-conscious couples are booking flights to Austria to get married, it has been revealed.
Ron Cropper, marketing director at Weddings & Honeymoons Abroad, said that Austria was "taking more guests than anywhere else".
"The guests always have a smaller budget than the bride and groom, but they can get a cheap flight with a budget airline and fly to Salzburg," he commented.
Mr Cropper added that Mauritius is also one of the most popular destinations, with the average size of a party embarking on an overseas wedding amounting to 18 people.
In addition, Mr Cropper explained, mainland Spain has proven to be a favourable destination thanks to its close proximity to Britain and the number of cheap flights carriers which operate to Spanish locations.
Recent research from hotels.com revealed that 77 percent of couples are planning to take a honeymoon lasting less than two weeks.
A further 54 percent said they were planning on embarking on a long-haul honeymoon.
Meanwhile, three in ten newlyweds said they intended on going away for one week or under.
