Increased demand for flights to Isle of Wight?

Flights to Isle of Wight could become more popular after the location was named as one of the top 25 UK destinations

Flights to Isle of Wight could become more popular after the location was named as one of the top 25 UK destinations by TripAdvisor in its annual Travellers’ Choice Destination Awards, as chosen by European holidaymakers.

The island, which was listed as a favourite with Europeans, was cited as "the perfect place to enjoy some peace, quiet and natural beauty".

Among its most prized assets were Osborne House, the Isle of Wight Steam Railway and Ventnor Botanic Gardens, all of which were highlighted as attractions not to be missed.

George Brown, a councillor on the Isle of Wight, said: "It is very encouraging to be singled out as one of the UK’s best destinations by foreign tourists in this way.

"The message that the island offers a top quality holiday experience at extraordinary value is obviously getting through."

Research by VisitBritain shows that the monarchy is still a big draw for European travellers, with some 24,000 heading to the Isle of Wight to visit Osborne House, a former royal residence built for Queen Victoria.
