Hong Kong International Airport has been named the best airport in the world by passengers.
In the latest World Airport Awards survey – which quizzed 8.2 million passengers over a period of ten months – Hong Kong International beat off competition from last year’s winner Singapore Changi Airport.
Singapore’s airport came in at second place, with Seoul Incheon Airport taking the third spot. KLIA Kuala Lumpa ranked fourth in the Skytrax survey.
Fifth pace went to Munich Airport in Germany which was also voted the best airport in Europe.
San Francisco International Airport won in the North America category and Tel Aviv took the title of best airport in the Middle East.
"We congratulate Hong Kong for their repeated success in winning the World’s best Airport title," said Skytrax chief executive Edward Plaisted.
"In recent years, the whole air travel experience has become much more focussed on the time customers spend in the airport environment, and Hong Kong has established itself as a clear passenger favourite in this respect."
Earlier this year Manchester International Airport won the Best Airport Award 2008 at the fourth Annual ACI Europe Best Airport Awards.
