Holidaymakers reveal pet hates

People who get up before the seatbelt sign is off and those who read over your shoulder are also criticised.

Passengers taking too long to stow overhead baggage have been identified by fellow travellers as being one of the top ten annoyances on a vacation, research conducted by online travel reviews company TripAdvisor shows.

Other pet hates associated with flights identified by the survey include armrest hogs, people who have a tendency to impair fellow travellers’ comfort through their over-aggressive use of the seat recliner option and children on aircraft who kick the back of the seat of the person in front of them.

People who get up before the seatbelt sign is off and those who read over your shoulder are also criticised.

"The notion of ‘travelling for pleasure’ can be a total farce when you’re surrounded by passengers who seem intent on making their presence felt – be it with a boot in the back, or an elbow in the ribs," commented a TripAdvisor spokesperson.

Meanwhile, Americans were cited by the 9,000 people polled as the most annoying travellers – with Britons coming in at number four.
